Eligible TSA PreCheck members can request a free Gateside pass to visit the secure side of participating U.S. airports without a flight ticket. Access is not automatic: visitors must apply in advance, receive approval, bring acceptable identification and pass through security screening.
What is Gateside by TSA PreCheck?
Gateside is a limited airport visitor-pass program for eligible TSA PreCheck members. An approved visitor can accompany someone to a gate, meet an arriving passenger or use restaurants and shops beyond the checkpoint. The program launched at 13 airports, so check the current participating-airport list before making plans. A PreCheck membership alone does not grant entry at every airport.
How to request a pass
- Check the official TSA Gateside page for current eligibility and participating airports.
- Apply online one to three days before your planned visit. Enter your Known Traveler Number and choose the airport.
- Wait for approval before travelling to the airport. Bring a REAL ID or another acceptable form of identification.
- Follow the airport’s instructions and complete TSA screening. A visitor pass is not a boarding pass and does not allow you to board an aircraft.
