Sometimes the fastest way through an airport isn’t a clever travel hack. It’s a credit card.

Many European airports offer paid Fast Track or VIP services designed to remove some of the least enjoyable parts of flying: long security lines, confusing terminals, and, in some cases, lengthy passport-control queues.

The catch is that “Fast Track” can mean very different things depending on the airport. Some passes only provide a priority lane through security. Others expedite passport control, while more expensive VIP or Meet & Assist services may provide a personal airport escort and help navigating multiple checkpoints.

Here are four examples – but check you destination airport for the specific VIP/fastrack services and schedules:

London Heathrow: Fast Track Arrivals

Heathrow offers one of the more straightforward paid shortcuts for international travelers: Fast Track Arrivals.

Rather than joining the regular passport-control queue, passengers who purchase the service can use a dedicated Fast Track lane. Heathrow currently offers the service regardless of airline, passport type or cabin class, subject to availability.

That makes it particularly useful when arriving on a busy international flight and discovering that several hundred of your new closest friends have reached Border Control at exactly the same time.

Heathrow also sells a separate Fast Track Departures service for priority access through airport security, so make sure you’re buying the right one.

Madrid-Barajas: Aena Fast Track

Best for: Faster airport security

Madrid-Barajas offers paid Fast Track access through Spanish airport operator Aena. It provides a dedicated priority route through the airport’s security checkpoint, potentially saving considerable time during busy travel periods.

There is an important distinction, however: Fast Track security isn’t the same thing as Fast Track immigration.

Buying the standard Aena Fast Track service doesn’t automatically move an American traveler to the front of the passport-control line. That’s an important detail when comparing airport services, particularly when entering or leaving the Schengen Area.

Paris Charles de Gaulle: VIP and Meet & Assist

Estimated cost: Often €150–€400+ depending on service
Best for: Travelers wanting hands-on airport assistance

Paris Charles de Gaulle takes the concept a step further with VIP and Meet & Assist options offered through airport and specialist services.

Instead of simply purchasing access to a faster security lane, these premium services can provide a representative who meets you at the airport and helps navigate check-in, terminals, connections, security and border formalities where expedited processing is available.

The convenience comes at a price. Expect to spend considerably more than you would for a basic Fast Track pass, with costs potentially reaching several hundred euros depending on the provider, number of passengers and services requested.

At an airport as large and occasionally bewildering as Charles de Gaulle, however, having someone whose job is essentially “get me from here to the airplane with as little drama as possible” can have genuine value.

Airporteo – VIP Airport Meet & Greet Services Worldwide

Important: Fast Track does not necessarily mean you’ll bypass every airport queue. Expedited security, passport control and customs are only available where permitted by the individual airport and government authorities. Check exactly which services are included at your airport before booking.

Before You Pay for Fast Track

Always check exactly what you’re buying.

A €15 Fast Track pass might save 30 minutes at security while doing absolutely nothing about the hour-long immigration queue waiting on the other side. Conversely, a service such as Heathrow Fast Track Arrivals specifically targets passport control.

Before purchasing, look for three things:

Security Fast Track: Priority access through airport security.

Passport Control Fast Track: A dedicated or expedited immigration/border-control lane.

VIP or Meet & Assist: A representative helps guide you through the airport and may facilitate expedited processing where the airport and border authorities permit it.

The names sound similar. The experience, and the price tag, can be very different. Verify before you fly.
